For best fit measure the girth of the dog. This is the area behind the front legs and around the body. The neck will typically fall into place once girth is determined. If the measurement is close to the end of the size range, go up to the larger size.

TIP: KEEP THE NECK STRAP A LITTLE LOOSE SO THAT THE GIRTH STRAP DOES NOT PULL INTO YOUR DOG'S LEGS
IMPORTANT: DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN STRAPS! WHEN FITTED CORRECTLY, HARNESS SHOULD BE SNUG, BUT TWO FINGERS SHOULD EASILY RUN BETWEEN STRAPS & DOG.

Lasts a few Lifetimes!
This is my fourth ezydog chestplate harness purchase! I already own two DFD's, several checkmate and Neo Wide collars, and the cujo and zeroshock leash, all of their products are excellent quality. I've been using their products since the company debuted, and none of their products have ever failed me. I am a dog groomer and I have seen every type of harness and there is nothing comparable to Ezydog products when it comes to quality! I'm still using the same leashes and collars I've originally purchased! I recently adopted a very small pomeranian who loves to hike, and LOVES to swim! He will jump into any body of water without hesitation, which usually isn't a great idea for him. I originally had the xs easy dog harness that fit him perfectly, but after finding out his love for extreme doggy outdoor sports, and having to pick him up and "reel him in" by his harness constantly, I decided I needed a tougher stronger harness for him that could support his full body weight on a regular basis. So I researched and bought a VERY expensive hiking/climbing harness from "that other brand". Not only was my dog terrified of having it put on, he couldn't/wouldn't move in the harness, it fit him like a corset, and seemed very hot and painful to wear and the straps didn't seem very trustworthy. So I returned it. I ordered him a size SMALL in the ezydog chest plate harness, and it can be adjusted down to a very very small size (you will be surprised). However, the chestplate was too big for his tiny little barrel body, and he refused to move in it. I put the xs chest plate on the small harness, put it back on him, and he is now prancing around the house barking ready to go for a hike as I'm typing this! Tipper is 17" inches in girth, with an 11" neck, and 11.5" long. My other dog wears the medium chest plate harness, and my other dog's medium will tighten down to fit my 17" girth 11" neck pomeranian, with some slack in the neck. So if you have a very small dog I would recommend getting the small which has larger straps and buckles and using the xs chest plate. It really was worth purchasing both SMALL and XS harnesses, and making a custom fit for my little dog, considering I know the harness will last for a lifetime and he loves it so much. Please don't ever stop making these products! I still haven't found anything that compares!

This harness is great for our 4-month old bulldog. It helps so much in controlling him and keeping him safe outside. When he outgrows it, we will get the large size.

It's Absouletly Great!
This is my 2nd one in 2years. I needed a new slip threw for my dog Baxter as he got out of another kind of harness & chased a UPS truck down a busy street. My heart was in my mouth. I finally got him but needed something he couldn't slip out of. Since he is small I won't put a leash on his small neck. I went through a lot of harness that he got out of this one is the safest & best. I highly recommended it!

chest plate is too still and the overall fit is not right - the girth is good but the front is way too big - dog is a cockapoo and this does not fit as well as I had hoped it would

Ezydog Chest Plate Harness
Lightweight, easy to fit and easy off and on. And it's virtually escape proof! My new rescue dog is timid in new places and he can easily back out of a collar and most harnesses when scared. The chest place harness has solved the problem for us. As he gets more confident, it will still be my first choice for Bennie's comfort and safety.
