Transform your Convert Harness into a service dog vest backpack or hit the trails while your pup totes his own water and food with the Convert Saddle Bags dog backpack attachment.

Double as a Service
Dog Harness

The sturdy and rugged Convert Dog Harness vest has many functions. It provides security and pinch-free restraint for hikes. It can withstand substantial resistance, because it distributes the load across the chest and around the sides, rather than pulling across the throat the way a traditional collar does. You and your service dog can go anywhere. Your service dog vest should be able to do the same! A good match with the dog harness would be to pair it with an EzyDog dog leash for the ultimate in dog control.

For best fit measure the girth of the dog. This is the area behind the front legs and around the body. The neck will typically fall into place once girth is determined. If the measurement is close to the end of the size range, go up to the larger size.

Fitting Instructions

  1. LOOSEN THE CHEST VELCRO STRAP
  2. PLACE THE HARNESS ON THE DOG
  3. ADJUST THE CHEST STRAP SO THAT THE HARNESS IS POSITIONED COMFORTABLY BEHIND THE DOG'S FRONT LEGS
  4. CLIP THE GIRTH STRAP TOGETHER AND ADJUST SO THAT IT FITS SNUG BUT NOT TOO TIGHT

TIP: KEEP THE CHEST STRAP A LITTLE LOOSE SO THAT THE GIRTH STRAP DOES NOT PULL INTO YOUR DOG'S LEGS

IMPORTANT: DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN STRAPS! WHEN FITTED CORRECTLY, HARNESS SHOULD BE SNUG, BUT TWO FINGERS SHOULD EASILY RUN BETWEEN STRAPS & DOG.

    Convert Dog Harness

Posted by Diane on 27th Sep 2017

Have an (now) 8 month pup. Small mix. Have tried a number of harnesses, and they just haven't fit correctly, or where leash connect, pulls "wrong" on her back. Convert Harness allows the connection to be more toward her shoulders, plus the small size we can let her carry some of her own supplies when hiking or backpacking (eventually when we get the bags). Only problem encountered, when panicking she can slip out of it. It is as tight as it will go and it is set as tight as I would want on her; set to recommended specs. Already have the chest plate harness (fit by shop personnel purchased at), and she has slipped out of that one when panicking. Noticed after she slipped out of the convert harness, that the belly band had slipped from it's original tighter setting. Put a rubber band to "catch" on the cinch buckle, and that helped to prevent slippage from 1" to 1/4". Just put on a safety pin which tucks under the cinch buckle on the top, that should prevent anymore slippage and hopefully prevent her from coming out of harness. She is right on the edge between the XS and Small, so she is wearing the Small size. Given she is only 8 months old, expect her to grow more into the size we have. Convert Dog Harness

Great for our 3 legged dog. She needed a little help when walking on a leash, so this increased the amount of time we could walk with her. We got a medium so she could grow into it, but the chest strap had to get tightened way too much and overlaps on the inside of the vest. Not too big a deal, but just something to note when sizing your dog, you may need to be down a size when you order or over tighten past the velcro to get it so that it fits your dog correctly.

You want bulky? I got your bulky right here

Posted by John Roszel on 25th Aug 2017

If your dog is really head strong about being on leash and is a big dog, then I guess this thing is for you. If, on the other hand, your dog is leash trained and well socialized, this thing is overkill. And I do mean overkill EzyDog Says: Hi John—Thank you for reviewing the Convert Harness. For all intents and purposes, the Convert is designed to be practical, durable, and comfortable for dog's in the outdoors as well as urban environments. It's utilitarian design is ideal for service dogs as well as hiking. For someone seeking a more simplistic harness solution for their dog, we recommend either our Quick Fit or Chest Plate harness.

GREAT Harness! Easy to put on and adjust...the medium actually fits all three of our dogs (Australian Cattledog, Border Collie and Husky!). I love the customized side plates that I put our telephone # on. Thank you for making such a great harness!

    Custom Patches

Posted by Steve Holthouse on 17th Aug 2017

The custom patches that can be ordered for this harness are very cheap-looking. They do not have the edge stitching of the standard ezydog patch. Love the harness; hate the custom patches.

Works great for our mastiff who has bone cancer and had her front leg amputated last month. She gets around very well most of the time. This is good for those times we need to help steady her. Also much better to attach her leash to rather than her collar in case she slips unexpectedly.

This harness has been perfect for my newfoundland. She wears it on all of our outings and walks and it stays perfectly in place. I do have to snug it up every once and a while but the look and fit is great and my girl loves wearing it. The handle on the back is a lifesaver if a skateboarder decides to come to close, and with a 120lb dog, it gives me a good hold on her. Quality is definitely top notch as I've had this harness for almost two years. Tons of compliments and of course the "saddle" comment from people since shes a big dog. Would definitely buy again.

    Slips to side on Tripawd

Posted by Jac on 6th May 2017

It slips over to the side of her amputation, but does the job in allowing me to lift her up by the handle - looks cool - EzyDog says: Thank you for your review. I'm sorry to hear that the harness is shifting. Typically movement of the harness can be reduced and even eliminated with some further adjustment. We would be happy to assist you with this issue. when pulling backwards tdogs have slipped out of harness

Posted by Barry on 29th Aug 2016

Perhaps my dogs re a little smarter than average, but they have already figured out how to get out of their harnesses. My dogs have never worn a harness, and are used to collars. It appears that the harness feels strange to them and while walking they stopped and wanted to get out of them. Well they figured it out, and when pulling backwards, my 9 year old and 4 year old Havanese arched their backs, made a move sought of like a newly saddled bronco and managed to wiggle out and set themselves free. I have 4 dogs, my other two are Cotons. Fortunately the Havanese didn't see another animal or car or bicycle, so I was able to get them and put the leads on their collars. EzyDog says: Thank you for your feedback. We do recommend snugging up the harness to avoid any backing out. For the expert escape artists we would recommend our Chest Plate Harness which is extremely difficult to back out of. Thanks!
