For best fit measure the girth of the dog. This is the area around the dog at the widest. Measure the general back length of the dog. Girth will take priority when selecting a size. The DFD does not need to cover your dog’s entire back length to be effective.

The sizing is off for the neck strap
I have a small dog with a 20" girth who is 16" long and weighs 20 pounds so I ordered him an XS, just as listed in the sizing chart. The vest itself fits fine but the neck padding only wraps around half of his neck. If the neck padding was not attached to the vest itself I could slide it in place in front of his neck but the padding is fixed in place and only covers the right side of his neck. How can the sizing be so way off? This is my second attempt at fitting a vest on my dog. I just returned the X2 boost version due to the grab handle placement and stiff neck trim. I will keep this vest and try it in the water but will be stuck with it after that if it doesn't perform adequately at keeping his head up. EzyDog Says: Thanks for your review. The adjustable neck strap is a sizing feature that allows you to loosen the neck to create more back coverage. It is not necessary for the section of the neck strap with the flotation to cover the entire neck. This will not affect the flotation for your dog. Dfd life jacket
Love this life jacket. Our lab is a great swimmer but after knee surgery we were apprehensive of her crazy love of swimming. This totally allows her to focus on using and exercising her legs with less stress on keeping herself buoyant. It fits her beautifully and looks great. She had no issues adapting to it's use. She's as crazy as ever about swimming. Thank you Ezydog?!

Not good enough
Its not good enough to keep my dogs a float and doesnt keep thier head high enough above the water. EzyDog Says: Hi Brent - We're sorry to hear you're having issues with your life jacket. Typically if one of our DFD's can be fitted on the dog you should be set due to the extra flotation we pack into our life jackets. It may be that some adjustment is needed to suit your dogs. Dog life jacket
This life vest actually has enough flotation to make the dog float. Others I've tried have only a tiny bit of floatation, which offers only marginal help if any to my yorky who does not want to be in the water. This vest which actually floats her without effort is making her less terrified of the water. I hope she will eventually start enjoying swimming

DFD is Great
Our black lab is a strong swimmer but I don't think many dogs are water wise. The DFD fits him quite well and he was happy to swim with it on. He appeared comfortable and his rear end was noticeably more buoyant with the DFD on. I am impressed with the design and quality of manufacture. I highly recommend it.

Great water life jacket - Hurray!!
After buying several life jackets for my boy, Loki, I was about to give up and then bought this jacket. It is perfect. Loki is a 81lbs with a unique physique. Deep chested with skinny legs and small feet for a large dog. He was a little nervous when I first put this on. The previous jacket caused abrasions where the straps were, so he was not happy when he saw another jacket about to be put on again. Aside from the abrasions on his shoulder from the rubbing of the previous jacket, He looked as if he was sinking down into the water. He appeared to be struggling to keep his head up as he sank down. He appeared to be having trouble staying afloat and was looking unhappy when I pulled him into the kayak. This jacket is a winner!! He walks right up to have me put it on and can swim much farther with it on. It has more buoyancy and he swims much further than with the others I've tried. And, seems to be far more comfortable wearing it. Thank you EzyDog for you great products and great customer service. There is a reason that I, as well as many people keep coming back for your products. I have bought EzyDog products for at least 10 years. Often using the suggested products you recommended for specific situations for my other dogs over the years. Thank you! Thank you! He loves jumping into the water from my kayak or off the bank, and it keeps him higher in the water when swimming than the others so he has no problem with me putting it on him. He has more energy and is relaxed after our outings, probably because he does not struggle with this jacket and he doesn't have to work so hard
